Bankruptcy

A bankruptcy consultation consists of my interviewing you regarding your debts, assets, income and expenses, among other things. Based on my years of experience as a bankruptcy lawyer, I will recommend an appropriate course of action. If bankruptcy is in your best interest, I will explain Chapter 7 and Chapter 13 so you may make an informed decision. If bankruptcy is not a good option, we will discuss alternatives to solve your problems. See the Frequently Asked Questions page for more information.

Tax

The best advice I can offer regarding the Internal Revenue Service is "Do not ignore the IRS". They don't go away. You should always file your tax returns on time, and always read and respond to all correspondence from the IRS. If you have ignored them in the past, it's never too late to set the record straight. You may want an experienced tax lawyer to represent you before the IRS.

Wills, Powers of Attorney, Probate

Most people would benefit from four documents: a will; two durable powers of attorney (business and medical); and a directive to physicians. These documents do not have to be complicated, but may save a lot of trouble and money in the future.

The vast majority of people are well served by a simple will. Trusts are usually not necessary.

Powers of Attorney are simple, inexpensive, but potentially extremely valuable documents.

Probate sometimes gets a bad name. If a decedent has a good will in place, probate in Texas should be an easy process.
